can anyone tell me if my signum 3.0 v6 elite has a timing belt or chain,as so many people av told me differant.

in the same boat as you , need to get mine changed as well

below are the part numbers for all the belts and tensioners and prices from vauxhall

autodata states 1.2 hours for the job as it only involves the top half of the engine as the timing belt is run from the fuel pump pulley not the crankshaft pulley

Fan Belt:
3.0CDTi 97350979 £35.55
Alternator Belt Tensioner:
3.0CDTi / Y30DT 97312462 ( new part number 97383061 - £102 + vat )

Cam Belt:
3.0CDTi 97229277 £50.50
Cam Tensioner:
3.0CDTi / Y30DT 97229145 ( new part number 97381209 - £118+ vat

obviously these numbers are for the y30dt engine
