    confused Vectra 3.0 idling problem

    Hello

I bought a vectra 3.0v6 diesel about a month or so ago and have had nothing but trouble. When i bought it there was a known problem that the car stalls while idling, and the garage i bought it from promised to fix it. It has been back to the garage twice now and they havent fixed it so i thought i would have a go at diagnosing the problem myself so i could go back and tell them what it is or fix it myself if its not going to break the bank.

There are so many things that ive found it could be! The idle control valve, egr valve, spark plugs.....

I no there are many threads already about these topics but all the links to the pictures or guides dont work anymore so i dont no where to start

    Please can anyone help

    Thanks,

    Neil

PS The garage have replaced the fuel rail pressure sensor and tested the fuel pump and its ok.

If the fault developed within the first 30 days and the sales outlet have agreed to fix it, then they should
Don't go tinkering with it, they could decline any future repairs

Stalling during idling will require a diesel mechanic with experience of the Y30DT engine to examine it
Phone around and see if any have worked on an Isuzu Y30DT and can perform a diagnosis
However, since it is a hyrbid it may require a visit to an experience Vectra C mechanic to check the other components

Start with the basics; fuel filter, fuel tank, fuel lines, fuel pressure readings, etc

thanks m8internet. Its just getting really frustrating now. They say its all fixed, then i go out in it and it happens again! lol. I just want it all working ok because other than this problem im really happy with it.

Oh and i forgot to mention that it only happens when the engine is warm?

The best way to clean the throttle butterfly is to take it off, x4 nuts and x1 vac pipe. While its off you can check that its not sticking shut, if it sticks shut the engine will loose power, black smoke, and almost certainly stall cut out. Location is front righthand corner where the large rubber induction hose is, hope this helps......

If it's a facelift it will have an electronically controlled valve.

I suggest you get the codes read and fuel pump pressure checked again WITH YOU LOOKING. They could be talking crap...you never know...

Try injector cleaner and change the fuel filter.

I had a similar problem with mine and one of the symptoms was it cut out after starting it up (3.0 v6 diesel) eventually kept cutting out when running. In the end the problem was simple, turned out to be a lose connector going into the ECU, so check all of these and make sure they are thoroughly cleaned, at one stage I was quoted £4,600 for new injectors. Try this trick though, it might just work.

Try to recreate the circumstances, before accepting the car after next visit
This may mean taking the car to them very early and requesting they perform the diagnosis before 10:00
You can then sit in it, allow it to warm up, drive it around a bit, then return and advise them

The dealership I use is quite happy to accept this request
I then pay on my return, if the fault has been corrected
The work then carries a 3 month warranty

I usually drive on a variety of roads for about 2 hours; 1 hour there and 1 hour back
However if the fault is still present it usually appears within the first 15 minutes!
