Default Courtesy car - oh yeah!

Had a bump in my signum last monday on the motorway as a van bumped into the back of me. Insurance put me in touch with Drive Assist.

They phoned me up and said they could provide a car on a like for like basis. Phoned again on Thursday and gave me a choice of 2 - both BMW 3 series - one a saloon (manual) and one a estate (auto). I chose the auto estate.

Pulled up on friday and bejesus - its a 60 plate 320d 181bhp m-sport touring with 200miles on the clock - full leather the works.

    Just like this onehttp://www.autotrader.co.uk/classifi.../320?logcode=p

It goes like a monster - i have a 120bhp cdti and the torque on the BMW makes my cheeks move when i floor it - and if i turn the tc off i can spin in in all gears (it has a manual kind of box too).

I loved my siggy but this thing is in a different legue performance wise. I dont want to give it back.

Whats the auto stop start? I dont think this one has that!

How much faster was it than your 150cdti? I think i may need to get my 120 remapped now.

if you brake, come to stop at traffic, press in clutch put into neutral, it turns engine off automaticaly, as soon as you put the clutch to go back into gear it starts again,

it gets the big powerful diesel BMWs into the £30 a year road tax group!!!

My last hire car was an M-Sport diesel estate drove home in the snow in December and abondoned it on the A34 in Oxford in a blizzard whilst all the front wheel drive cars ploughed on, stuck for 5 hours until me mates in a Navara picked me up, I wouldn't waste my cash on one, my mate has an M3 and it doesn't leave the drive in the snow. They are fun in the dry though

I know what your saying, I got stuck behind a load of front wheel drive cars this winter, struggling up hills while I cruised past
