well and truly sick of car now had injectors changed ,mpg back to normal now but engine sonds like its about to blow up but only on tickover slightest revs sounds fine but tickover it is really loud bangs and even auxilliary belt squeals, it sounds like when you have water in compression chamber not sure if one of injectors is a duff but seems fine as soon as revs are added .please help getting desperate now and losing out on work. its a 120cdti with 130,000 well looked after miles.

just looked on youtube could the loud noise be caused by bad copper seals cos from what ive seen the same noise was caused bty gasses mixxing with oil how that works i dont know

while constantly banging my head against a wall trying to find problem with this car had an idea could this problem be caused by the oil pump failing same sort of simptoms loud rattle bad cold starts.

have the new injectors been codded to the system .. ?

no mech said they didnt need coding

as its common rail and not multi point

so if it isnt multi point what is it then ..?......injectors fitted in a 1.9 have to be coded to the system if not it can lead to missfire and faults

if not coded with the value stamped onto the injector then the ecu doesnt know the right parameters for firing the diesel through the injector. Due to differences in tolerances it can cause lumpiness and even engine misfires! Listen to The Benny lol

how do i get them coded is it a stealer job and how much would it cost will this explain the loud knocking noise that dissapears as soon as i accellerate .cos worried it may be oil pump

i would take a educated guess and say youve got a slight flywheel knock wich is beeing made worse by a missfire / rough running ...


have you checked the plug on number 3 injector ...?
