u can buy a template to put on your torque wrench.. so once up to the correct torque you can then turn it by the amount of degrees needed

Torque setting of 85. Once it clicks give it a 3/4 turn, stop then give it a last little nip up.

Some have to have a torque setting, then dial turned, could be that. 85ftlb then 75 degrees then a further 15 degrees?

    thanks

i'll be off to get one of those tomorrow

is there a reason why they use angles in addition to torque settings?

does it confer some difference over just using torque settings?

properly is a difference. not sure if its to do with twisting a bolt past its limit? or could be tighten to torque... rest... lets the bolt mating surfaces settle... then torque up 45% ... rest.. then torque to 15%... could all be to allow it seal/do up without too much of an inital impact? could all be a load of carp what i just said...

But imagine undoing a glowplug, rather than just going striaght at it instead you turn 45%.... rest... turn 15%... rest... then complete undo.. starts to make sense..

edit: also something nagging in the back of my head about bolts stretching as well
