@ Ian-Highlander - I just got an HTC Desire last week and I am looking to fit a charging cradle. I want to have it hard-wired into the lighter socket so that it charges even when the keys are out of the ignition (which is what my old Mundano used to do).
How have you connected yours up? Will I need the 5v transformer - or is that just for the hard drive you mention?
I will be mounting it on the windsheild, right of the steering wheel as I use it for sat nav - so plan to run the wire behind the dash somehow (will figure it out at the time. . .) (or come back here to ask!).
Cheers
BTW, I have a 53 plate 2.2 Elite, just in case that makes a difference.
I think you'll have to find wires from somewhere else then, as far as I can remember the cigarette lighter is switched so it's off when the keys are out.
