As title says got stuck behind some idiot in the fast lane today refused to move even when middle lane was clear he then started zig zagging an randomly stabbing at his brakes so I pulled next to him in the middle lane he was texting on his phone and had a little kid in the front with him and he was well over the speed limit AM58 *** silver Vectra cdti hatchback I think on the m3 Basingstoke to bagshot turning (he kept going) hope it was no one on here dam right dangerous.

There are guidelines in place if you want to pass / overtake a vehicle in front
You wouldn't have seen me pulling up next to the vehicle on the left, for passing on the left; I would have put one entire empty lane between us
Finally, if that vehicle was travelling in excess of the speed limit, then you passed on the left at a faster speed, er that's dangerous driving too; two wrongs don't make a right

^^^ he was braking down to about 60mph then accellerating hard upto 90+mph and I didn't undertake I was coming off the motorway doing a constant speed he slowed down so was I supposed to slow down too like the off side rule?

Yes, highway code clearly states you must not pass on the left of vehicles
However as soon as you are in the freeway lane you may pass on the left

I wouldn't even bother phoning the police
The vehicle slowed for no valid reason, so I would have passed on the left as per guidelines and left the car to do its own thing

I thought you could pass on the inside as long as you didn't then move out into the outside lane?
