    Default Thermostat is it working?

Now the ice has finally gone and the temp is up to 6 deg is your thermostats now working as they should you diesel drivers?

Mine is hot nice and fast and showing on the gauge much much faster.

Some of you that had doubts about your thermostat do you now?,

The diesel engine will take longer to get hot than the petrol so if the weather turns again you will not panic if it takes ages.

I don't think so. In the summer mine takes 3 to 5 miles to get to 85 at motorway speeds. When the temperature was down around -10 it never made it to 80 even after 10 miles at high speeds. Today (+5 degrees) it was somewhere between 80 and 85 on the motorway and dropped as soon as I turned off and slowed down a bit. In town it's below the scale. The heater is still OK though. Always been like this in the winter from new. Thermostat is fine.

To me your thermostat is not working.
Just because youre going round town doesnt mean your temp needle should drop.
The engine should keep a constant temp controlled by your thermostat.

    100% correct and I know

You should maintain 86 degrees give or take a few degrees regardless of the driving style.. honestly.. You SHOULD NOT need to rag the car to get it to temp.. That is just stupid,,
