    Default Another snapped spring

Hi guys, i have a vectra 1.9cdti 150 with 52k miles. and yesterday i noticed a knocking noise coming from the front. I got it home today and upon inspection of the front offside wheel i noticed the spring looked a little odd.....
So i whipped the wheel off only to discover that the bottom part o the spring that sits on the cup has snapped! so the spring was not seated properly and was sliding out of the cup and knocking the car.
Im going to ave to replace the spring obviously but for now i have levered it pack into the cup as far as i can and have wrapped 9 cable ties and the spring and cup (which had some handy holes) Do you guys reckon this will be safe??

here are pics to give a better idea of what happened and how good my bodge looks .
Does it look safe to drive on untill i can get a replacement?

For a start, those ties will rub on the tyre, making a right noise if nothing else, and i would just get it done asap...that wont hold i wouldnt think, when you consider just how much weight is on each spring.

No mate i wouldn't risk that myself,if the cable ties snap which they eventually will and the broken portion jump out of the pan itself your looking at a mutilated tyre and possible risk of a tyre failure at speed well you know the ending...get that sorted as a matter of priority m8.
