Rattle on start up and shut down

Hi guys i done a 130mile trip from norwich to thurrock, checked oil etc before i left, when I came to leave i started the car and i had a heavy rattle for about 10secs, sounded abit rough but went quiet, stopped the engine for about 5-10mins then started again to a rattle but not so hard. Drove back to norwich got home switched the engine off and it rattled again, its done 57k on 53plate and its a 2.2 petrol, any ideas?

sounds like it may be the chain get some 1 to start it and listen it with the bonnet up it will be rattling from the drivers side if so get the chain and kit done asap as it could snap any time

Thats what i thought it could be, i went to the garage i normally go to but they were closed will try them in the morning.any ideas how much the chain and kit is?

all depends where you go pm benny on here hes the chain god lol as i know he changes them failing that if you go on to vvoc there is a guy on there appy that changes them to they will be cheaper than a main dealer bud hope this helps

Start up and shut down with the clutch depressed, see if it still does it.

But more likely to be the chain on a 53 plate 2.2.
