Bit of info please?

Hi folks to cut a long story short ordered the thermostat only part from ebay over 2 weeks ago and not received yet, opened case etc. I'm impatient when it comes to things needing fixed so went to my local unipart office, Quoting the qth600k and he gave the unipart equivilant: GTS900K this doesn't look quite the same, the 'wings' are bent instead of straight. Would somone be able to confirm before i take the car apart. Car is z18xe. Many thanks lads.

Have a butchers at the pics on this how to,doesn't look like it would fit to me,cant' you get hold of a QH one,i fitted mine today and the cars warms up a lot quicker and sits at about 88c so worth doing.

When it comes to thermostats, I learnt (the hard way) on a previous car, not to trust pattern parts and buy from the dealer instead.

yeah my problem is it takes ages to get up to temperature and then when i switch heaters on the temp drops down to about 80.c So definatley needs doing. Doesn't look the same think i will have to take back tommorrow and query it before taking car apart, just need it sorted.

jezzy -Yeah i'm of the same thinking as you when it comes to pattern parts, but vauxhall are just taking the **** when they only sell the housing complete when you only need the thermostat. cant justify paying all that money like.

Just to confirm peoples, the gts900k fits just fine although it looks like it wouldn't.

One question though. The one i took out was completely closed so why is mine still taking ages to get up to temp and when it does, then turn heaters on the temp drops down to 80 or so. mayby the other stat was opening to early? is that possible? any help would be great folks. just waiting for the instant gasket to dry a bit then filling the coolant back up. fingers crossed!!!!
