    Default Painting Brake Callipers

Guys I did a search on this and came up with a good lead in regards to what to use and best colours for the car but what is the best method of actually painting.

Basically how do I do it. I've always wondered this question. I always thought that obviously the best method would be to take callipers completely off the car, clean and paint. But I can see or tell from some of your posts that this isn't the case.

So could someone please tell me the best way to paint them with them still on the car. A how 2 if you like.

    Cheers guys

What colour are you going to paint the calipers?
Also, I believe on ebay you can get decals for the calipers aswell!

Always wanted Red. (Must be from my love of HSV). I think they will look best on Black. If your avatar is your car, I think red looks the business on Silver too.

you don't need to take them off m8

just give them a clean using a brake cleaner, like a spray, from your local motor store

get hold of a good metal paint thats suitable for high tempratures

here in the UK i think most people use Hammerite Smooth, which is available in loads of colours inc silver, black, red, blue, yellow, white, and green

very easy to do, would recommend 2 coats of paint

Thanks. Is it just purely a matter of taping everything else up (the pads, rotors etc) when painting

I used masking tape for the bits I wanted to protect, just keep it away from the pads as you say and you won't go wrong

I left mine on the car and protected the bits I didnt want painting with masking tape. I didnt use any cleaners on them as I heard a couple of stories about it reacting with the paint ?. I used blue hammerite smooth to paint them and 2 coats does fine...dont forget the decals as they finish the job nicely...
