Default Where to buy ABS sensor for front wheel?

    Hi again

Traction control and abs lights were on. Mechanic connected computer and said it was the front passenger side speed sensor that's gone. I'm assuming he meant the abs sensor? Now Ive heard these are expensive brand new from dealer. The mechanic also mentioned it will be cheaper to fit it if it comes with the hub or something?

I've been looking on eBay and was really confused as to what I need. Could anyone please help? Was thinking second hand to minimize cost? Any advice?

    I have a vectra c 1.9 cdti 120bhp 05 reg. Engine code z19 dt.

    Thanks

Hi ishaqmir On the Vectra C the wheel speed sensor is actually built into the hub and is not available as a separate part im sorry to say. See the link below for some prices.

Its worth checking the connectors first, could save yourself alot of money. Have a look at the pics in post #14 here http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1201021 I had the same problem and it was just a bad connection. There are 2 plugs for the hub/speed sensor behind the wheel.

Are you sure it is not just from driving on too much snow / ice?
Obviously if you have been driving on dry / wet roads and have since restarted your car then it is the hub that needs replaced

Thanks for all the replies, I think it may very well just be the connector. Basically the TC & ABS lights only used to come on once in a while over the last 6 months, mostly when turning the steering sharply in car park bays etc. But since the mechanic changed the front discs and pads, the lights are now on a few seconds after starting engine and stay on.

I'm a complete noob with fixing cars. How do I get to that connector shown in the photos?

    Thanks

You should find the wiring for it clipped to the suspension strut/hub carrier, just follow the cable.

I would take the wheel off. I dont think you will see whats goes where with it on. You could try it and see though.

Yeah wheel off to get access. There are two connectors for the hub, the round one pictured bellow that is attached to the wheel arch liner behind the strut. And there is also a squared connector that is clipped to the strut, but that one was fine on mine.

Pic of drivers side, passenger side is slightly different I think.
Also its a good idea to tape it up afterwards to help prevent water getting in again.
