    Default Radio fuse!

    Evening all.

Fitting my new radio today, appear to have popped a fuse. I can't for the life of me find the VX user manual to tell me where the fuse is. Had a search but can't find it.

    Anyone able to help?

    The manual he say :

Radio - Passenger fusebox - fuse 1 - 20A - left strip of fuses, top fuse.

Cheers for that. That fuse is fine, so is the one on the radio, and the new radio works fine off the Halfords testing thing.

    I'm now stumped. Any ideas?

Check power from the cables themselves, both perm live and ign live. Beyond that I think I'd be pretty stumped too.

I have nothing to test power with, other than the old radio, which I can't get back into the old ****** cage.

Just a thought, I can swap the red and yellow wires over on the loom, there's connectors built into it to do it. Would this be the problem? There's no power at all to the radio even with the engine running. I don't know if this will cause damage to the car or radio though if the wires are already the correct way round.

Currently they're red to red and yellow to yellow.

I would stop right there.... too much expensive electronics to risk swapping things around without knowing what's hot and what's not. Whizz off to Halfrauds or your local motor factors and get yourself a small multimeter - will save you a fortune on all manner of jobs.
Such a device will not only allow you to check for power, but also fully check the fuses - you'd be surprised how many look fine visually, yet have actually blown.

I seem to remember having to swap yellow and red on an older vauxhall but i confirmed them at the time using my multimeter.

For a tenner off the market they are invaluable and dont need to be that accurate either for small jobs

if i remember swapping the red and yellow is only something to do with keeping the memory settings on your stereo, check the cigarette lighter fuse which i think is a 30 amp cause have have to connect to that when u fit an aftermarket stereo if i remember correctly hope that helps mate
