    Default drivers in lapland

took the wife and kids to lapland for christmas, their roads are 4 to 6 inches deep with packed snow (around minus 20deg c)and everyone drives as normal. there's no crawling about at 10 mph they have proper winter tyres and drive at "normal"speeds ie 40 to 60mph with no problems stopping etc
these were as i say normal cars not 4wd and i never saw a problem
damn cold over there though and only light for 3 hours a day

Trouble where I am is it can be 3 inches of snow during day, then slush next morning, freeze again with a dusting of snow, more slush, then heavy snow. I'd be changing tyres every other day.
