    Default Neo brothers..

I tried to buy 4 tyres from neo brothers the other day, bought online over the net as i was working away from home. Anyways, half an hr later i get a call saying they want me to send them some I.D as i have never bought from them before - now something is not right about this IMHO....so you guys who have used them before, whats it about?

Told them to stick there tyres as im not into giving out details like this as they will have everything they already need, which im dissapointed about as i wanted to try the neutons...

    Hi Steven,

No it is perfectly normal I had to do this first time I bought from them mate. It is an anti-fraud thing that there bank insists on.

Tell Demos you are a mate of mine as well and it will all be fine

they sell on ebay too, don't think they can ask for any details outside ebay once the sale is complete http://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayIS...al=0&items=200
could be wrong mind - anyone confirm?

It's because they're based in a dodgy part of north east greater London, so they have suspicious minds...lol.

i have never had to do this at any place so far but i am aware of people that have... When i first shopped with Neo Bros it was face to face and there was no issue... Can't say I am happy with sending ID to back up a card payment though, it may there banks policy but am sure you own bank would consider it bad practise and hold you responsible if your card was used elsewhere without your knowledge, I am not suggesting that will happen with Neo Bros by the way..

I was once asked to do it when booking a hotel abroad while i was in the UK, i told them to shove it as well.

Agreed Nige, im not for one minute saying Neo are wrong for asking for ID but im just not comfortable handing more ID than necessary over, i would honestly rather buy more expensive tyres...

It is an accepted part of the service with their offers at UKS so I never had an issue, as it is for my security benefit in the long run.

It seems to be happening more often as chip and pin gets more insecure according to many. Demos told me that is was demanded by their bank based on the profile your credit/debit card flags up from their online banking server.

Now this seems odd if this is the case, as mine is perfect

I can understand why they would ask for this though, the world we live in now is riddled with scammers but as said im not 100% happy handing over more info than is needed

Whenever I use my card online, it is the card issuer that asks for verification not the seller. I wouldn't buy from there either.
