    Default Spanner symbol up???

Dont know whether the cold weather is playing havoc with my electrics, but since I got stuck in the snow the other day and had to rev the guts out of it, I am getting the INSP indicator up and also the spanner symbol? The INSP I will get rid of, ( didnt change it when I serviced it in August ), but as far as I can remember the spanner symbol shouldnt be up with the service indicator should it?

No, car and spanner is the EML. On pre-facelifts car and oilcan indicates service due, (I used to get INSP also on my old 53-plate 1.8). On facelifts (or is it full-canbus cars?) only INSP is used to indicate service due.

The EML light maybe a one-off caused somehow by thrashing your way out of the snow
