Default Insurance Renewal with Chris Knott

Ok, so I changed my car with CK halfway through the year so I never really new what the total cost was but for 3 months it was an extra £40 odd.

In the post waiting for me after my holiday was my renewal quote. I am 33, 9+ years NCB clean licence and no accidents in the last 5 years. Just for me it was £570! Compare the market etc gave me £365ish with admiral - now I know these things are never exactly spot on bit thats a huge difference.

So I called AFlux who straight away quoted me £420 with my GF on there as a second driver as I want her to drive it to work in the snow and ice as she works at a hospital. One of the reasons I chose a AWD (subaru)

My understanding is that Women are generally a lower risk, so when i called CK to get a quote with her on the policy (when I played on line it ALWAYS went down with her on it) they told me it would be the same or even more as another driver is added risk!!!! Really, hows that even possible??????????? The car can only be in one place at a time, cannot be driven by both of us at the same time and every car is cheaper to insure for her as she is a lower risk (I have done online quotes for her only on mine and they are always much less)

So unless CK are listening then I will be changing and they will lose my business for the foreseeable future. i will ring them again to see what they say after xmas but I doubt it will change.

Wonder who else to try..... I can see some long and boring phone calls coming soon!

Mine goes up when I add a female with AF and they give me the same reason CK gave you so it's not just CK that play that card.

It did go down on my previous car when I added my mum, but not with the Vec.

Mine has always gone down when adding a female to my policy, they are actually less of a a risk, and by adding a female shows your settling down and more likely to be a sensible family type person and a lower risk. Just goes to show that insurance really is a lottery

Yeah that's what I'm finding. Just use any excuse to charge you more.

When I got my quote for insurance from AF for insurance included my girlfriend on the policy. Not sure if it went up or down but it was still a good price......not that she drives the car anyway
