    Default BHP ...... questions

    Hi guys and gals....

    Anyone got a idea how much BHP my Vecra 2.2 would be putting out. It's on an 03 plate.

    I am looking to push it upto 200 or 250 (depends where the BHP is now). Any advice on how to do this .......

    Thats a pre direct so should be about 145-150 bhp ...Spikey is looking at tuning his bigtime and will be along with some words of wisdom, when he`s back from his holidays ... Thorney Motorsport are running a couple of vx220`s (same engine) at over 200bhp with some whopping throttle bodies ...

    Yours wil be around 148bhp. Spikey has had his remapped and is now around the 165bhp mark.

    To get the 200-250 you want, buy another car m8 a 3.2GSi would be good. Big Phil's is just over 253 bhp now.
    Seriously, it will be major surgery to the engine and just not worth it.

    What kind of increases will i get from a k&n air filter, new sporty exhaust, re-map?

    What else will help to add the odd BHP here and there??

    As above m8, up to around 165bhp with those mods. The 2.2 is not the easiest engine to get anything from without spending huge wads of cash.

    Just as Caterman says, with "bolt on" stuff 165bhp is as much as you could hope for. After that your looking at actual engine mods, such as gas flowed cylinder head, more agressive cams and an inlet system to feed it, throttle bodies are the most effective, but you need standalone management for that (about £1800 all in). All told thats gonna be in the £3-4k mark by the time its fitted and tbh your looking nearer 200 than 250 bhp. Plus then theres the suspension and brakes to think of. You'd deffo be better trading in for a GSi and 2.0T, same age should only cost say £1-2k extra (only lol) but then youve got 200+ on a GSi to play with from standard!

    god I've droned on but you get the idea?

    As far as I´m aware J...you wont get that much more BH for a k&n....it would sound louder when sucking air in but no dramatick change....the mod that makes more BH is deffenetly a remap...or get a different type of engine as the guys above stated.

    Getting the hint now guys....

    Had the Vectra for a short while now so not possible to change it upto a GSi, nor willing to spend grands onit. Never mind.

    Will do the K&N filter thing anyway...and swap exhaust for a full sporty stainless steel one.

    k&n will give you 2-3 bhp ... zorst will increase by 5-7 % and the re-map will give you between 10-15 bhp
