confused Anyone know anything about Pug 206cc's?

    Hi All,

I know this has nothing to do with Vectra's, but seeing as you're all such a knowledgeable bunch...

The inlaw's have got a 2004 Peugeot 206cc, as they hardly ever drive it the battery's always flat. Anyway, the Father in law went to charge it the other day and accidentally knocked his charger from 12volt to 24volt and only noticed when there was a funny smell coming from the charger!

He obviously turned it off, set it to 12volt and charged the battery, everything seems fine except he now has an airbag warning message on the dash. Has anyone got any ideas what he's done???

...and no, before you ask, it wasn't me, I couldn't fit in a 206 if I tried

Probably just tripped a warning light so would need resetting.

It may just be a coincidence and nothing to do with the charging incident, but the peugeots, particularly 206, 207 and Partner vans suffered a lot from the plugs under the seats coming loose. Push the seat right back on its runner, locate the plug for the seatbelt pre-tensioners (they display the same warning light as airbag if faulty), pull the plug apart then push it completely together again. There may be a fault, but that is most definately worth a try first.

Why would charging a battery off the car set off an airbag light? Even if you put 100volts how would that effect the sensor? It would burn the battery out as the water would boil and evaporate

as per Garys post the Peugeots suffer on the earler models with wiring connectors under the seat this becomes more prevalent IF the seat is moved back and forwards alot (which if your letting people into the rear buckets would occur).

the battery charging MAY have spiked the Ecu IF the battery was on the vehicle at the time he knocked it to 24volts the same light would also come on if there was insufficient charge in the battery as it may not have enough current to trigger the airbags in the event of an accident and they were needed
