    Default Dealers annoy me lol

Ok, took the car in at 0800 this morning, with a possible thermostat problem. Car warms up, blows warm air although not as hot as usual and the temo guage hasnt been off zero for over a week.

Just been to pick it up, "No problems sir, its working fine. All is as it should"

It is now anyway, think its sods-law its started to work?

    Default sticking thermostat

It took me two visits to convince my local dealer that I had a thermostat problem - first time they took the car round town and said it was fine. That was after I told them I only saw the temperature drop on motorway runs. I ended up filming the temperature guage so they could then see what happened when the thermostat stuck open.

    Not really the dealers fault.

If you haven't had it changed in recent years - just do it anyway to eliminate it.

Check out the How To section for tips - very easy and cheap to do.

When you have a nice warm heater you will be glad you did it.

    Default Warranty

They'd happily change it if you paid but I find if it's warranty work they need convincing there is a fault and can't be bothered to thoroughly investigate themselves

    Ah yes - my mistake...

.......never had a car with a warranty before so never thought of this.

I never trust the dealers unless I absolutely have to (say for larger/colder jobs like clutch or cam belt) and then I get them to parcel up all the components they removed up in the boxes that the new parts came in.

And then sell them on ebay as new parts?

Talking to a relative who works for a VW dealer and he said that with fault codes on warranty work that their Tech section @ Milton Keynes checks the cars on line and say if the warranty work is authorised, they also send the agreed warranty parts down as a kit for the car that work is being carried out on. So big brother watches over our cars.
