Car Pass - Result! Key Code & Radio Code

Just thought I would post this up for advice to others.

Often the Car Pass (giving key code and radio code) is missing when you buy the car 2nd hand.

After reading some posts suggestions on here I contacted the original dealer who first sold the car, (Lookers, Ellesmere Port).

They gave me Radio and Key code over the phone - for FREE

Can I just check the Key code format is of the form

D 1 2 3 4

ie. LETTER - then 4xNUMBERS

Are there any other codes I would need if I needed new key/alarm fob?

Radio code is just 4 numbers

But not sure about the keycode format

They gave me Key code format 1 Letter 4 Numbers

Just thought I would check if anyone knew I might need to know anything else.

Keycode is 4 numbers and dependent on pre-face or facelift it will be a H or Z

Well I almost did the same - luckily after some detailed searches here up turned the tip to try the main dealer who sold the car.

Apparently it is something they log during the pre-delivery inspection (if such a thing is ever really carried out)

BTW - clever name "Vectra Meldrew" - I like it
