No way. Not safe in my opinion, even if it did look cool

No they are not if you get 'Sparco' racing gloves.

    Very grippy, comfortable and warm.

I hadn't thought of using them actually, but I suppose for the first 15 minutes you could use them.

I just wear my leather gloves from next. Not exactly driving specific gloves, but the leather grips the wheel a lot better than my own skin, and my dodgy eczema ridden hands fall apart in the cold so I have no choice.

I cant see anybody shaking there head at a pair of leather gloves in this weather. Well unless your a chavy track suit wearing ned with a pair of golfing gloves on.

Anything that enables me to grip the steering wheel better = a very sensible option in my book.

As someone else said above though, I just wear leather gloves, not driving specific ones.

I will openly admit to wearing M&S brown leather gloves in winter. Not just to drive but almost any time I'm outside.

I can understand posts saying gloves are 'unsafe' to drive in but when its -12ºc outside its probably safer to wear gloves than to drive with completely numb hands.
