depends what you are after. In standard form the 3.0 is quicker & much smoother, and pulls all the way through the revs. However, it doesn't like being "messed about with".
If you want something you can tune then the 1.9 would be better.
Personally I'd still have a standard 3.0 over atuned 1.9. Just personal preference

Love my refined 3.0 Cdti Elite in standard form. Not for the heavy tuner though but who needs to![]()
I see more issues on this thread with the 1.9cdti then the 3.0cdti and thats before tuning! Not to say the 3.0cdti doessnt have problems but they hardly ever seem to crop up!
yeah more 1.9's with more problems lol.
Apart from the difference in power (Is there much difference) is the mpg, tax and insurance much difference?
I have had both, 4 1.9 CDTi 150's and one 3.0 CDTi.
The 3.0 sounds better, is smoother, excellent low down torque and slightly quicker than a standard 1.9 150. Don't go wrong very often, but when they do, it's mega expensive to put right. Tuning is out of the question as the fuel pump is a weak part when mapped or boxed, but very strong if left alone.
The 1.9 is better on fuel, lower tax and insurance, lower servicing costs and if re-mapped is considerably quicker than a 3.0 CDTi.
In near on 200,000 miles I only had an injector fault on the last Signum I had, other than this I found the 1.9 CDTi to be bullet proof.
Drive both and see which you prefer. If your happy with the lazy running of a V6 then you won't be disapointed. The 1.9 is also an excellent engine and I don't think you would be disapointed here either.
