    Default Lockable Glovebox

After reading THIS THREAD and looking through my EPC, i've decided to retro fit a lockable glovebox to my Signum.

I did this in my Astra G, and all that was needed to do was to prise out the lockless handle an fit in the new handle complete with the matching lock barrel.

Has anyone done this to their Vectra/Signum? Is it the same process or is the handle size different for the lockable handle.

Worst case is i'll buy a handle and barrel and work from there.

(When sorted a How to will be written)

    Just a small update.

I'm on this, now have the lock barrel cut for my ignition key.

Priced up a replacement handle, then noticed a glovebox with a handle with a lock in For Sale on here. When it arrives (hoping by the end of the week). Then need to check how to remove the handle and lock (with I don't have a key for)

I'll post progress when it happens (and a How to)

It dearer than the Astra G. The lock I bought from Vauxhall, but my dealer use a local company, and not through Vauxhall as they're quicker and cheaper.

    So the Lock was £21.

The handle from Vauxhall is around £25.

They definately cut some costs as my basic 53 plate LS has most of the things in that have been retro fitted to peoples cars including lockable glovebox, rear airvents in arm rest, auto dimming rear view mirror, coin holder underneath light switch, rain sensing wipes and cup holder with cover for the centre console.

kdadidog, i'm fitting this to an 03 Signum Elegance. So it sounds like your lucky with some of the bits you have fitted to your LS.

There are two different schools of thought on locking valuables in the glovebox. One says don't leave anything remotely valuable under seats etc as you're making it easier for the thieves, lock them in the glovebox. The other says don't do that, it just means the glovebox lid gets smashed as well, leave the glovebox unlocked with nothing valuable in it.

I think the sensible solution is option 3: either leave nothing valuable in the car or use something like this to store your satnav in:
