Power steering?

Started car yesterday, steering wheel icon then illuminated. I switched off engine and went to restart again but it wont turn over just clicks. handbook states that the icon is to do with the power steering. I am struggling to understand why the car wont start and i get steering wheel warning icon any more.

Mine has just done this. I had the starting problem first. Is it clicking the starter or not? Mine was totally dead. When you drive it around the clocks die and power steering is lost. Its in VX now but no one can get into repair because of the snow. I think mines the CIM

Only way I can get it to start is disconnect the battery for 30mins then try it. Works for me until the next time

It sounds like your alternator is at fault as power steering is electric i have the same fault.

Mine doing the same as well.

It asll started last night with the heater and radio intermittetly cutting out every couple seconds and today power steering failed with error light on dash.
So i stopped the car and now the car wont start, just clicks.

Someone mentioned a connector on/in/around the dashboard needs replacing.

Anyone any other ideas yet?

Its a 1.9 cdti 150 estate
