Default Freezing my nuts off, rubbish car!

Yes I know it was -7C this morning, but whats the deal with driving (my most modern car I have owned - 1.8 52 Vec C) with no warmth on the temp gauge or through the blowers. I've checked the thermostat, coolant, blocked part of the radiator and for weeks the car has not warmed up at all.
Any suggestions? (Apart from a different car).

How did you check thermostat ? The only reason I thought my thermostat was faulty was because the temp use to drop to zero now and again even though I was getting heat from vents.

But after changing it OMG it's hot hot hot and warms up within 10 mins now

    Deffo thermostat

If it's stuck open, the coolant will be circulating the radiator all the time. And air at -7 degrees will never allow it to warm up. HTH

Brought a new thermostat (Thread below titled "spot the difference"), which I thought was the wrong one so put it all back together, then noticed with engine ticking over the gauge went up and I could feel warmth coming out the vents (this was the other day) and so once engine was warm, coolant level was topped up I went for a drive, and as soon as I got onto the road the temp gauge dropped and the vents blew cool air.

So I can imagine a few people starting to use their heaters more and thus noticing no/reduced heat coming out and so to address the thermostat, but I did that and with the temp gauge going up minutes after putting the thermostat back but I just can't understand why the car suffers so badly. And even if the temp gauge shows a low temp reading, surely the heaters should still pump out hot air

On the radiator there is a drain tap on drivers side makes it very easy.
