I've buying Tesco own brand for backups
Pack of about 100, must have bought about 15 of them now
So far only 1 has failed, and that was my fault

Most places do general good delas on normal cd & dvd's but it seems hard to find good priced decent duel layer dvd's.

Virtually every type is available in my local Tesco
They are about 1/3 of the cost of a main brand and/or elsewhere, at about £12 for 100
My latest purchase was these, as it was two for £12 :

Blimey, backing up onto DVD-R's when external hard disks are so damb cheap these days..??? Even PC World are doing a 1TB external drive for just 49.99.. Thats same storage capacity of about 118 dual layer dvd's.. A much faster and simpler backup solution if you ask me, worth the extra pennies..

While backing up to an external (or another internal) hard drive may seem a good thing to do, just remember that it's still a hard drive and they do have a habit of failing at the time you want them. Cheap drives even more so.

I've been working in IT & Computers for many years, and everytime I get asked the best way to back things up I always get a confused look... All my data/programs etc., are backed up using CD or DVD (normally 2 copies), backed up on multiple computers over the network, also put onto my backup server using a RAID hard drive, and if possible, also keep paper copies too!

But even doing this is not 100% fool proof.
