    Default alternator on way out?

The other day a friend of a friend was sitting in my car with the engine running and the courtesy light on, and he told me my alternator was on it's way out as when he turned the steering wheel the light went slightly dimmer.
Is this right and is this car gonna cost me more money or is it a load of bs?

    yep - totally normal.

I thought mine was failing when I bought the car and noticed the dimming when turning while engine idles.

PAS is electo-hydraulic and draws a large current which is most noticeable at idle when the alternator is not producing quite as much current as when you travel normally.

Also when you travel you don't tend to turn the wheel so hard as say when you are parking, so the PAS works less, and dimming is not noticeable once you are on the move.
