we had a fair bit of snow here in sunny wales last night & today. I live at the bottom of a housing estate whch has a bit of a hill. theres only 1 way in & out. Do you think i could get out today. could i hell. i think evey bu gger on the street did appart from me. evry time id try ad go up the hill the power would surely die & id end up at a stand still with my foot welded to the floor & nothing at all happening appart from that stupid yellow light flashing. The TC is the most stupid idea ever in my opinion its a 150bhp diesel dot a 450bhp.

Have you tried getting the button fitted? Most pre face cars will let you turn it off if you buy the button.

i know there was on my old astra. but it also wiped out the power steering & abs so probs not a good idea lol. it wiuld be way to easy for it to be something as simple as a fuse. its a vauxhall lol. im guessing the only way would be to either change the tyres, move house or burn it & buy a new car

Did you try and reverse out? If you reverse out at ultra slow speed (to give the tyres a fighting chance of finding whatever minimal grip was available) allows the car to act like it's rear wheel drive. The advantage of this is that it pushes the weight of the car which can sometimes give better traction as opposed to a front wheel drive car which technically drags the car giving poorer traction in these conditions at this speed. Don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting you should reverse all the way to work, cos' that would be daft, no just use it to get out of your road if it's feasible.....whatever, it's worth a shot. I've seen it done and it does work.

Once the module detects overspin it will deactivate the ABS and TC
The best way to do this is to find some ice and put this under the front wheels
Chock the back wheels, so they do not move
Put the car in first gear and leave to run until the module disables the ABS and TC
You can then drive as per normal

i tried that last year. its exactly the same. im telling you any slightest spin the TC is instantly cutting the power. it unbeleiveably sensitive. has anyone else on here suffered the same problem?

hmm ive never heard of that one. i sat on the hill earlier for a good 1 min or 2 earlier banging my head on the steering wheel that was at a standing stop with my foot flat on the accelerator. so the back wheels werent moving anyways. it wont overspin cause the damn thing wont spin

Yes, had to do that with my wife's MPV to get up the icy gravel and mud 1 in 8 slope to her brothers house last year - with the Rover Severn at the bottom if you stuff it up......they've fallen out this year so not an issue.
