    Default Vectra and insurance warning

Just thought I would link to this in the Chris Knott thread

    http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showth...t=95216&page=5

You will see that apparently if we change the width of our tyres which alot of us do going from 215 to 225 as the tyres are cheaper, then we should be informing our insurance company!

Not sure what they would do if we didnt, but any excuse for them not to pay out.

As you say don't want any reason for non-payment and as its only a phone call well worth it i say as they don't charge. I upgraded for 17's to 19's 5 min phone call to inform them and all done no charge better safe than sorry with insurance.

I see that as being different though! In that case your fitting aftermarket alloys which apparently will increase the likely hood of theft, But changing to 225's from 215's will have no effect. Other than reducing the replacement cost of the tyre

And increasing tyre contact with the road meaning that you will think that your car has better grip meaning you will drive it harder........well thats what they see it anyway.

Funny thing is though, when I fitted my snowflakes they never asked my tyre size and there is no way your gonna be able to fit 215/50/17s onto a 18" rim

Likewise when I had 18's on my last Vec. So did they presume I had 225 45 18 (standard vec size) and not the 225 40 18's I had

NO need IMO. 225/45/17 is a VX-recommended size (it's in the manual), and is fitted as standard on some Saab 9-3's.

As John said it's in the book so there is no need to tell them as it's a standard tyre.
