Default This might be a silly question......

Is there any way of changing the direction of a crack on a windscreen? I had a small crack, I say had, cos now its a big crack that is going in the direction of the drivers eye line. My MOT is due beginning of Jan and was could do without forking out for a new windscreen right now.

    Thanks

stick some superglue in/over the crack. im guessing you know that if the windscreen is compromised the airbag might not deploy properly and has structural implications aswell.

Cheers i'll give it a go. Yeah thanks for the heads up about airbag etc, only doing about 30 miles per week at the moment and rarely have passengers so I'm gonna have to take the risk.

If you get a new one, try for a UV reflect, etc (unless you have it lol)

indeed they are - there athermic - but they wont let signals through from Tomtoms etc as they block the signal they have a very small area aorund the rear view mirror that lets signals through and thats it

How big is the Crack now ? and is it within the wiper arms sweep?? if so and its over 10mm on the drivers wiper area ...... its going to fail now

Normally about £70 through your insurance and doesnt affect your no claims and £10 for a small chip.

    yep a failure mate

    - it wont pass the mot and with the current inclement weather your going to have is spread all over the screen and possibly implode with vast temp changes - get it done on your excess before you end up with wind chills from driving with no screen
