Default buying advice 1.9cdti 150 auto

hi i looking to buy a vectra c on around an 06 plate,i have owned a pre face 2.0t and had no problems,i know there is the common stuff like egr, manifold and the auto box but was that issue solved on a certain year ie water in gearbox and what to look for,i have driven a 58 plate auto 150 and from standstill there is delay from putting your foot down to anything happening but im guessing this is normal,im driving a 54 plate saab 9-3 with the 2.0t engine which is alot better than the old vec and the handleing is great but fancy an auto diesel looking at spending £4500 maybe a tad more for the right car but do i get one with slightly higher millage hoping that any problems would have been sorted cheers guys

Mine was fairly low milage, but anything 57 or later will already have the revised manifold and swirl linkage. Recently told by a member who knows more about diesels than me (1st one) that the auto's don't suffer as much with egr/dpf probs, as they are usually at the proper revs for speed. I've certainly had no cause to complain.
I had noticed the lag, think it's largely an autobox thing, but taking the restrictor out of the airbox and a K & N filter helped.
I found mine runs better on V power or equivalent, but others don't. I don't regret having one, power is good, handling (sri) good, and economy great.

The af40 box never had the water ingress problem,it was the af33 box in the early auto's.
