Default BG 244 - Anyone used this?

    http://www.powerenhancer.co.uk/news/...for-diesel/33/

Saw a guy on another forum saying how he tried this thinking it won't work, but found his car running far better within 50miles.

Has anyone used this treatment and is it safe with a DTi fuel pump??

A good cleanout is good, but personally I would check that it lubricates the pump as well to help compensate for the low sulphur content of modern diesel fuel.

I went for Wynns Professional Diesel System Cleaner because it cleaned and lubricated.

    Bit of an update, I finally got round to contacting them, this is what I wrote and their reply - it's posted on the website;
    ----------

Hi there, heard good things from car forums I’m signed up to, will the BG244 be ok in a 2002 Vectra 2.2DTi? I only ask as the fuel pump uses the diesel to lubricate itself so any cleaner which hasn’t got a lubricant in is a no no so I’m told.

    Many thanks
    Simon

Hi Simon, That advice is incorrect. High pressure diesel pumps rely on the lubricity additves in pump fuel to help protect the unit. BG244 contains additives to clean AND lubricate the pump, more so than with conventional pump fuel. Additional lubricity is a good thing.

    Best regards, PE Team

Hmmm... thing is... the guy is selling the stuff so he's bound squash your concerns to get a sale in the current economic climate especially since it would be nigh on impossible for you to attribute any fuel pump failure down to using his product...

Worth keeping an eye on, I already use redex regularly and V power fuel when I can.

    Default Bg244

I've just put a can of the stuff in mine (CDTi 150), so will wait and see what falls off

I've read good comments from the states, where it's been available for ages.

I've been regularly using BP fuel with Millers, but this stuff is meant as a yearly 'clear out'!

I'll let you all know in a weeks time.

    Default Bg244

275 miles on and the car feels more responsive. MPG is better, but not by much, although hard to tell when the DPF does a regen!

Would I recommend it? As a preventative measure, yes, especially with the renowned soot build up on the CDTi.
It's once a year, so build it into your service.
