    Default 2.2DTi Thermostat

    Chaps,

    My thermostat is kaputt - the temp doesn't move in this weather unless stuck in traffic, and athough heat comes through the vents it takes a while.

    As I'm getting rid of the car next year I don't wanna spend £60 on it, so have found one from a 2001 Zafira DTi on ebay. Can anyone tell me if this is the same unit & housing or not so will it fit?

    Also - does anyone know what other Vauxhall models have the same unit, so I can broaden my search?

    Cheers

    Ok new idea - can the thermostat be taken out the housing, and is there another thermostat that will fit in? I just begrudge paying £53 for something that's only ever cost £7.99 before! Call me tight if you like

    I'm sure someone posted recently that you can get a Quinton Hazell thermostat that is a push and twist replacement for the old broken one - I think you get a cardboard tube with the new thermostat to do the fitting with.

    The housing that is changed with the 'proper' part is therefore not replaced, although you may need the gasket for it as you'll still have to take the housing off.

    QTH595K (opens at 92 degrees) on page 110 here.

    Some for sale here.

    Which means you can get the full proper thing cheaper (if this is the right one for your car) unless you can find the QH part cheaper somewhere.

    Check dealers as well - they can be competitive especially with Trade Club .

    So sorry to go on about this, my engine is the Y22DTR, same code as the Vec B 2.2DTi - but the thermostat is coming up different. In short;

    Vec C part;
    QTH595K complete (no other option)

    Vec B part; (same engine)
    QTH573K complete or...
    OTH600K just for the spring unit itself (£9 on the net).

    ALL set for 92deg - so does anyone reckon the Vec B thermostat will fit in my housing? Again, the same engine code for the Zafira is another part number again.

    Weird huh?

    I guess a quick call to QH may resolve the query? I would think that changes have been made to the engine over the years - for cost/performance - and to add new parts to the inventory for us to buy .

    If the full unit is cheaper than the QH unit (assuming the Vec B one doesn't fit), will you replace the 'stat and housing?
