    Default cam belt change.

    ive just bought a 1.9 cdti sri 150 with 80,000 on the clock,i was just wondering if anybody knows when the recommended time is to change the timing belt?thanks

    Now!, inc water pump as they can seize up.. They do say 100k but better be safe than sorry,,

    100k but I would definatly get it done now if it has defiantly not been done already. Some recon 60k max for a belt on the 1.9.

    mine was done at 99k miles mate, gonna be done again on 180k ( if she makes it! )

    Got mine done about 82000 ...... The mech showed me the old parts and they were close to breaking up.

    Fortunately one of the easiest to change.

    Others may not agree but it is far too easy to be a tooth out if you don't use the £40 locking tools. It goes in place nicely a tooth out. It is a bit of a struggle to get the belt on as it is very tight when correct between the crank and cam pulley.

    My old belt had paint marks (indicating locking tools were not used on it) but was still a tooth out and had been for 60k miles.
    If I had just replaced it by using the existing marks I would still be a tooth out!

    A good tip is fit with the sealy locking kit, fit the belt to the cam, & the crank, but not the others, secure at cam & crank then pull the belt tight in the middle to remove any 'slight' movement, then fit to rest on the r/n side first.
