Hi Ive tried all these fault code tests and cant seem to get it to work.
would disconnecting the battery do any harm?
Its just i have a spanner light that wont budge since getting alternator sorted, so im wondering of a way to reset it ?

I doubt that having your battery diconnected would reset your spanner light .
A spanner light on, permanently signifies thaat you have a hard fault be it alternator related or something else that has been disturbed while your alternator was being changed , if the alternator was done by a stealer then take it back and get them to sort it , if not then see if there,sanyone near you with a tech2/ opcom to read the fault codes

and still loving it
Dont know if this will get rid of the light, perhaps there is a loose connector somewhere after the alt fit.
I think the vecs are ok as the ECU self learns, Just make sure you have your radio pass though m8
