    Default Snap-On tools on ebay?

I shattered one on my new Torx male sockets at the weekend. I wasnt misusing it, I put some force on it to loosen a very tight bolt and it just shattered.

It needs replacing and I don't want this to happen again so I'm thinking Snap-On. Ive been having a quick look on ebay a there seem to be a lot of sellers offering Snap-On tools but in the pictures each tool is carefully placed to hide the Snap-On logo. Why?... My first thought was that they're inferior replicas but surely the world and his wife cant be selling fake Snap-On? Any ideas?

Im a little dubious about buying from ebay at the best of times, is there a better place to get Snap-On without loitering around the local QuickFit on a Wednesday afternoon?

Snap-On is pretty expensive stuff, but all Halfords Professional stuff carries a lifetime guarantee as well (same as Snap On). I've been using it for years with no probs, and it's a hell of a lot cheaper.

I use all Snap-On gear, what the sellers may be doing, is selling Blue Point stuff, which is only available from Snap-On, but its not quite the same standard. Its sort of a Snap-On budget range if you like. So by them saying it is Snap-on, they are right in a sense but not strictly truthful. Thats my theory anyway.

As mentioned, Halfords Pro range is good stuff for what the DIYer needs at home. I've got a few spanners at work that are Halfords

I've never used any better screwdriver bits than my Snap-On set. I've destroyed other brands but my Snap-On gear just keeps on going and going. One of their logos on their carrier bags is "There is a difference.", and its so true.

    Have you tried Snap-On's website?

I have a 3/8" Ratchet and rail of metric sockets that are brilliant (I had a rail of hex sockets too but they've vanished) which is why I'm keen to replace broken tools with Snap-On.

Ive had a look at the Halfords Professional stuff but it seems you can only buy complete sets (halfords web site is awful though so I may be wrong) and at the moment I only need 1 male torx socket.

The Snap-On web site is pants too! you just cant find anything unless you have the part number!

I dont know if you are aware of Snap-On prices, but in case you aren't, a 3/8 ratchet will cost in the region of £50/£60 and a set of sockets, typically 10mm - 19mm possibly round about £130. Not cheap by any stretch of the imagination.

Try and find your local dealer as they do tend to have offers on ever week, So I tend to try and buy my tools when they are on the offers.

Just bought a set of about 10 impact sockets, led rechargeable torch and a set of 7 screw drivers for about £240. Once you have bought them you have them for life (Unless you loose them).
