Default Head & interior lights dimming

As above when I turn the steering the lights dim for about 1/2 a second, I know this car has elec steering but so does my Corsa and those dont dim, its getting on my wick and I am considering HID's and am worried that they may flicker or go on and off or is this normal??

An awful lot of cars do this.
It's a sign of excess current draw from the battery and charging system, basically to the point of voltage drop which then affects lights on both the interior and exterior.

A higher capacity battery would help to an extent because it'll compensate for the extra current draw and maintain the voltage level to the lighting circuits.

How old is your battery btw?

    Different systems.

The Vectra-C is electro hydraulic (electric PAS pump and traditional hydraulically operated steering rack)
The Corsa has electrically assisted steering (no hydraulics) via an electric motor connected to the steering shaft under the dashboard.

As said though, it's the electric PAS pump drawing a huge amount of electrical current - perfectly normal. Since fitting HIDs the flicker isn't noticable.

When i have my music on loud with subwoofer the lights flicker to the bass of the music. And if i dont have my music on they still seem to dimm when im steering so im guessing its normal, just not enough power im guessing.

With just two connections I would say that was some sort of capacitive short term power storage, but I can't see it making much difference.... A bigger alternator and/or battery on the other hand would do.
