Handbrake Recall......

This isn't a technical thread so posting it in the "car chat" area...

I've owned my 2002 Vec C for nearly two years now, and after 8 years of it's life Vauxhall have finally caught up with it and posted me a letter about the hand brake!

I'm sure lots of you have had the letter previously, but it's claiming if you press the button in when applying the hand brake (as I've always done) it can manipulate the mechanism causing it to release partially.

I'll probably will get this work done, although it will put me out as my nearest dealer is approx 6miles away and I work at least 35miles away, so can't do without it.

Well worth getting it done. Involves fitting of a stronger spring, as the existing one has been known to cause the mechanism to release itself. The brake will feel firmer and more 'solid' when applied after the fix.

Keeping the car in gear when parked is always a good idea.

I took mine in the other day and it took all of 5 minutes to do so you could phone up prior to getting it done to make sure they have the part and ask them to do it there and then while you wait.
