Default change of headunit on 06 vec

was wondering if anyone could let me know of the pros and cons of fitting an after market headunit.

i.e. does the on board comp display still fully function, and is there any additional device needed.......thanks....

it is going into a 06 1.9cdti sri.

There is no interfaces out at the moment to enable you to maintain steering controls or the display. Connects2 are currently working on one but it's not available yet. The new kit you will need will be DOPS006 when it becomes available.

The above is not wholly accurate unless I have misread it.

I have an aftermarket HU in my 05 SRi, prefacelift though. The onboard computer details still appear on the screen as do the washer level and bulb out warning messages and I have a lead to utilise the steering controls.

The only thing it doesn't do is display the radio station name or CD track details on the Vectra screen.

    Cheers

Connect2 do make one for the vectra, not sure on retail but i guess around £50 and it will give out speed pulse, ignition feed, reverse lights also (Think a couple of other as well)

I know they cost us £29.50 + vat to buy in

I don't think there is much technically different between the 05 Pre and the Facelift. They both use the new CANBUS system etc and have the same steering wheel, so to be honest I do not see why I couldn't take my Pioneer HU and Pioneer steering lead and connect it all up into a facelift Sri

My response is as quoted from Connects2 technical department. Not sure which kit you lads are on about, but to my knowledge there is no kit on the market yet that will fully support your display and steering controls. DOPS006 is the one in development as we type with no date of release yet.

Weird i saw a leaflet that came with 'Car Audio Retailer' mag and it listed it so i called tham and they said yes and confirmed the can bus outputs and price. I do recall it being a different part no. to what you have listed so perhaps there are 2 different things? Was gutted as i had just bought the 'Sailes Marketing' multi output adaptor at twice the price and no steering controlls!

Edit - I dont think this one did the display just steering controlls and outputs
