Default DTUK multimap power system and red power system - opinions please :D

im hearing more and more about these diesel tuning boxes and recently my friend has ordered one for his Navara (2.5 170bhp) and claims he will receive 205+ after it

Now, ive been reading on here and saw that you guys really couldnt talk more postively about DTUK, and thats good because it attracts me more to considering it when i get a Diesel...

But, what i want to know, is it too good to be true? with increased power and torque, does the block require any specific strengthening?

Ive heard some horror stories with them, but i suspect its the condition of the engine its being place onto...

Just any and all info regarding the device would be much appreciated!

    -DTUK® CRD2® Multimap Power System
    -DTUK® RED Power System

but yeah, any info, would be appreciated!

I have the 1.9 150bhp cdti by the way

Tuning boxes offer the same hp but for less money, however the downside is they let more fuel into the cylinders than the ECU thinks. The obvious advantage is they can be removed.

A remap will offer the same hp but for 2-3times the price typically, however with them the fuel amount which is dictated by the ECU is actually the amount used.

Typical HP for a boxed/tuned 150 is around 185PS and 390Nm of torque.

They respnd well to a K&N air filter - about £40. But your boyfriend is right, get a remap.

Haven't got round to it yet, but one day.

Needing to do few things like the oil catch tank, but I will be heading down the remap route which deletes the EGR function. And blank that up properly.

But I'll do it the proper way, removal of the cooler and EGR feed pipe, then blank off both manifolds. Will look into it anyway. Been a few stories of people fitting a blanking plate between the Valve and inlet manifold, but the high temperatures cause a hole to be burned through it, releasing a bit of metal into the engine.
