    Default smelly heater on van

my brother has just recently bought a 02 van...he's been driving it now for about 4 weeks 8-10hours a day.because the weathers been cold he has had the heater going in the front to keep warm. The thing is he now says he has got bad pains in his chest and feels very unwell.I had a look and sniff and i am sure it smells like there is fumes coming in from the engine into the drivers area Do you think the heater could be letting some bad fumes in and could this be the cause of him feeling unwell cheers

sounds like the exhaust could be blown slightly and letting the fumes into the cab? or maybe the pollen filter is finished aswell, would defo check exhaust though, a mate of mine has a citroen berlingo and his exhaust was blown and everytime he drove the van he was getting a sore head and the fumes were defo getting in the cab then

make of van ? most likely need sa new pollen filter some nasty stuff grows in them especialy once they have been wet.

If you get a new one take the old one out and before fitting the new one spray some dettol aerosl disinfectant into the houseing and rund the blowers ( not while your in the van) for 5 minutes.

also check is that there is anti freeze in the coolant and nasty bacteria can grow in the heater matrix.

And finaly a cap full of dettol in the screen washer bottle will kill any nasties in there.
