Default Misted windows - found the problem!

So as temperatures start going below -2 degrees C now around where I live, the AC compressor stops working and there's no dehumidifying of the interior air. The windows on my car get so misted up, the other day I had to keep the demist ON all the time while going to work and even so the windscreen remained misted up on the sides.

So I have just checked the recirculaton flap behind the polen filter and it was jammed closed. I forced it open by hand and tryed it again, sometimes it works, sometimes it remains stuck closed. So I just forced it open and deselected the air quality sensor so the flap will allways remain open.

It probabily remains stuck because of a broken tooth on a gear wheel like The-wizard has found on this thread.

I also had the wierd clicking under the dash but it went away a few months ago and didn't think about it.
Also this is the full thread on the air recirculation servo replacement by The-wizard: http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showpo...79&postcount=1

Yeah I have the condensation problem too and my recirculation flap is bust - judging by the noise the stupid motor makes.

Just got to work now and no sign of condensation on any window! . But I could smell the fumes from other cars and just realised that I was driving with the busted recirc ON for some time now...

Glad you found that thread helpful, i got mine from a breakers nearly new, A Good tip now is when turning the hot/cold dial 'never' go all the way right or left, stop just short & this problem should not reoccur, There's a little natural settling point just near the end on both hot & cold that's the area to stop at.
