Default how long should i expect my exhaust to last?

    Hi Guys,

got a 1.9 CDTi 150 estate that I bought brand new in 2004. Its done 60,000 miles and exhaust is still as new !!

This is the original exhaust, i know it depends on circumstances but how long should i expect to get out of this exhaust? i thought after 6 and a half years with 60,000 it would have been replaced by now

    any thoughts?

It's mainly down to the fact that the standard exhausts are part stainless and the back boxes are double skinned. The first parts to go are normally the hangers as the are mild steel

Back in the olden days when the cavalier mk2 roamed the roads the diesel one would last approx 8 yrs back then and over 100k

Today much better quality so expect it to be there when you scrap it.

Can agree with that, mine is origianal and has done 93k well actually tell a lie the back boxes were put on when i got the car so they have done 80k. However my bro in law has had to weld the hangers each MOT last couple of years. Getting a slight blow from them now though so may need to invest in new cobrasport system if they fail the MOT in march.
