Default 19" Snowies - Changing Tyre Size (& Getting Rid of Space Saver)

    Hi All,

I seem to recall seeing a post some time ago which mentioned that it was possible to replace the stock tyres on 19" snowies (235/35/19's) with a different profile that tended to be cheaper.

I've searched and read through the forums but can't seem to find the post, can someone confirm that I didn't imagine it and either point me towards the post in question or advise which size(s) would be suitable?

Also, having used my space saver and realising what a c**p idea they are for motorway commuting I was wondering about changing it for a steel spare.

Can someone please point me in the direction of information on what would be an acceptable difference in overall diameter and rolling radius between a steelie and my current wheels? I know my mum has some steel wheels from her Vec B, 185/70/14's - but I'm assuming a 32.5mm difference in overall diameter and 100mm difference in rolling radius would be a bit too much?

    Cheers

    Dan

Funny was considering getting rid of the waste of space saver myself. Why is there a full size holder under the floor in the boot with a bicycle wheel in it wasnt too clever in the snow last week.

Aren't all wheel wells in Veccies the same, i tried to replace my space saver with a standard 17" GSi wheel but it raised the boot carpet up by about 1 to 2 inches.
