Paint flaking off drivers door help needed

Hi all I have 3 separate patches on my 06 vectra estate in star silver where the paint and lacquer is flaking off the worst patch is about the size of a 50p and also on my front bumper there is no impact damage just paint flaking off like it has nit stuck on the metal.

Question is where do I stand with Vauxhall and there perforation and paint warranty

The car has full Vauxhall service until last year when a independent garage done it who I bought it off it's now due another service now which I done myself. Will Vauxhall cover the paint costs as it is only 4 years old and the paint should not flake off surely

mines flaking off the bumpers quite badly, no accidents or scrapes or anything, vauxhall werent interested despite a FSH with main dealer. mines a 55 plate

maybe its had a re-spray at some point. Doubt they'll touch it either way...

But surely they do a paint and perforation warranty as last year I had a 03 plate Mondeo with partial ford history an the doors started rusting with paint scanning and ford fixed that with no quibbles as they have a 10year paint and perforation warranty

Yeah they do, but they only cover from inside out. Not outside in IIRC.

I think its worth enquiring with them as the only reason for lacquer to flake off it due to surface contaminant of the paint below the lacquer. It might be worth finding a paint shop and asking them if they could measure the depth of paint. Factory paint should be pretty much even across the side of the car, front wing, doors and rear quarter at around the 100micron mark. If its into the high hundreds or above and only on the door in question it would suggest that it has been painted at some point.

Several people have probs with such damage, mostly caused by stonechips or accidental, like mine. Seems to be down to the owner to sort it out.

Do not believe VX will touch it. Think paint is only 1 year but perforation and paint damage caused by perforation I think is 6 years.

Sounds like a bad chip repair prior to being sold by the independent garage/car sales. They all now use the mobile chip repair guys before they put them up for sale even main dealers use them.

why not repair it yourself once the weather gets better?

Ok I will try and fight my cause with Vauxhall and try my best

If I get no where the. I do I go about repairing the damage it's in 3 separate places and one piece is big but you can see if you press the paint you can see air bubbles under it and just flakes off leaving bare metal I'm stuck now as it looks as though it will keep flaking off until the whole door is off
