strange noise

hi guys these past couple of mornings ive been on earlys and wen i start my car up to warm up while i de-ice ive noticed a strange nocking noise coming from the engine it sounds like a belt but im no mechanic so dont know what it could be. ive checked my oil and water and they are fine. any ideas or anyone else hearing the same noise?
The noise only happens while it is cold first thing in morning once i get to work i notice the noise has gone (about 20 mins driving)

what mileage have done, you have 1.9 cdti don't you?

yeah sorry forgot to say it was a 1.9 cdti 150

And its just hit 92k

Is it mechanical knocking? Is it from the bottom end, valve-train or gearbox?

It could be something as simple as cheap oil taking it's time to warm up in these conditions and feed the cams etc.

Get a diagnostic done and have it looked at, I would advise certainly not to drive the car under load if your hearing mechanical knocking.
