confused How did this happen ???

Here is one for you,the Veccy taxi I drive [at night] has just had a wheel fall off it is with luck it was only being reversed at the time.
Three of the studs have sheared off ! and the other two are missing altogether ! so now there is a £400 bill to repair and replace the disc.
This is all very strange as I was driving it untill 2.am this morning including a quick dash on the M11.it was parked for an hour out side a house before the day driver started work and he has been with the car up until the wheel coming off.
sabatage ? metal fatigue ? .we cannot work it out

when was the last time the wheel was checked for all nuts being in place.............could be that they had been off for weeks and finally the other 3 gave up .

Heck you had a lucky escape there. I have not heard of anything like that before. I too wonder what the cause could be.

Probably had loose wheelnuts, the ones that are'nt there have probably flew off and the result has been to much stress on the remaining ones and bye bye wheel lol. Could have been nasty.

sounds like the others worked loose, the remaining gave up the ghost soon after.

replace and check regularly from now on bud.

this can be caused with over tightened wheel studs
