Default Just dropped veccy off for MOT :(

I hate MOTs they always seem to get me one way or another. I suppose if it means your car is safe it is worth it.
    Ideas it will fail on
    Emissions
and tyres i cant really think of anything else, and i only think emissions becuause my astra did, but this is the first diesel i have had so im not sure how they go on in MOTs compared to Petrols

Hope it doesnt fail on too much

They only do a smoke test on diesels.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

wekk where do i get started.
    Failed on
    offside rear headlamp insecure. (Easy)
Nearside front (to rear) brake pipe excessively corroded (just changed brake pads n discs iv got no idea how to do this though) is this an easy job?
Offside front (to rear) brake pipe excessively corroded
    Nearside front coul spring fractured
Rear (box) exhasue has part of the system excessively deteriorated.
They said £300 quid to do all work onit.

Not sure what to do, with the exhaust he said it had a massive hole init or something.

    1) Get a wire brush and brush the surface rust off the brake pipes thats all it will be surface rust.
    2) Front springs will need changed.
    3) If your backbox has an outer skin on it check it yourself it maybe that, If its its just the outer skin thats corroded pull it off.

Thanks for that. Ill try with the wire brush but do you think that is all it is as it says it is excessively corroded and with the exhaust they said it has a huge hole init, so if this is the case could i just fill this up with the putty stuff as i did on my astra?
    Thanks

Try with the wire brush chances are its surface rust and there trying to get some work out of you.

The back box hmmm, i would have a look if it is holed its probably at the weld where the pipe goes into the box. I would buy one of those sleeves from halfords that and lots of exhaust seal/paste would get it through the MOT.

MOTs i hate them. I will try but if the car goes for the re test and the wire brush does not work will i have to pay for the test to be done again as i only get one re test?

Thats true, you'll just have to give it a go with the brush and see if that cleans them up. Might be worth asking the garage if they will clean up with a wire brush.
